Production Director / Technical Operations Director (Interim or Permanent)

Our client, based in the UK is a specialist regenerative medicine and device company which has developed an exciting, unique and patented technology with multiple medical applications.

The company expects to see a rapid growth in the number of projects based around its delivery platform, with the need to perform multiple overlapping pre-clinical, clinical and commercial supply projects over the coming years.

To meet this need, the company plans to move into a new facility, recruit staff and implement systems and procedures to allow it to develop and manufacture a broad range of commercial drug device combinations based around its’ patented delivery platform.

The company’s new facility will house all aspects of the company except primary research which will remain based at a local University.

Key technical and operational activities including process development, quality assurance, purchasing, planning, logistics and the internal and external manufacturing network will initially be grouped together, under the leadership and guidance of a new member of the senior management team – the Production Director / Technical Operations Director.

This is a new and permanent position within the company, although the appointment of an experienced Interim Manager will be considered, particularly if he or she would be open to a subsequent transition into a permanent position of employment.

Reporting to the Company’s CEO, the successful candidate will have :-

  • A strong technical background, ideally with a PhD in a chemical, pharmaceutical or engineering discipline.
  • At least 10 years manufacturing experience in a quality-driven and highly regulated industry
  • A minimum of 5 years senior management experience in a small to medium size enterprise, showing commercial acumen and the drive to add shareholder value.
  • Previous experience of establishing a Technical Operations group within a pharmaceutical, medical device or related life sciences company.
  • Proven ability to manage a cGMP manufacturing facility.
