Director of External Network (Manufacturing & Supply)

Our Client is an international pharmaceutical company with revenues in excess of £200 million and with over 1000 employees.  Global Headquarters are in the UK  and the company has well-established commercial operating subsidiaries in most of the European markets.  There are key manufacturing facilities in a number of countries.

The need exists for a Director of External Networks – a senior role that carries responsibility for the design and implementation of the company’s External Network strategy, working in close alignment with all manufacturing and supply sites, integrated supply chain management and commercial business units.

The External Network includes contract manufacturers, licenses-in suppliers and licensed-out manufacturers.

It is critical that this External Network is fully integrated in all of the company’s processes and systems, S & OP, Quality Management System, Global Technical processes etc.    The role includes responsibility for the creation and maintenance of effective relationships and contracts with external parties to deliver and protect the company’s interests.

Our Client’s ultimate aim is to appoint someone to occupy this position on a permanent basis, but until such time as the ideal candidate has been identified, an experienced Interim Manager will be appointed, probably for an initial period of 6 months.  The possibility of the interim role transitioning into a permanent position is high.

Candidates are likely to be educated to at least degree level, have a thorough knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry in general and of GMP requirements in particular.  They will have extensive experience of production and supply chain , be experienced in implementing new systems (MRP, ERP) and have direct experience of managing commercial and technical relationships with external companies.

The role will involve significant international travel, particularly in Europe.

If this opportunity, be it interim or permanent, is a good fit with your own areas of experience and expertise, then please contact Geoff Newman at Interea as soon as possible.
