Our client is a small, ambitious and well-funded biotech company, based in the UK, and currently at a very exciting stage in its life. The company has built up an impressive pipeline of potential therapeutic product candidates, the first of which is already in the clinic.

The need exists for an Interim Development Director, a role reporting directly to the company’s CEO, who will lead the efforts to accelerate and broaden the development activities which will include CTA applications for two of its programmes.

The position requires an individual with a proven track record within drug development. The post holder will need to possess significant early phase drug development experience (specifically up to proof of concept) coupled with knowledge and experience within the areas of Regulatory, Toxicology and CMC related to peptide manufacture and formulation as well as experience of managing early phase clinical trials with a CRO.

The successful candidate needs to be able to multi-task and will be required to work very closely with the CEO, CMO, Research Director and other members of the development team and will be responsible for overseeing and managing the transition to first in man patient clinical trials for two programmes.

In addition, the successful candidate will be required to travel within the UK and to the parent company, elsewhere in Europe. The clinical trials will be pan European.

The assignment is expected to be of an initial duration of 3-6 months, probably demanding 3 days / week, a proportion of which can be conducted from a home base.
