Case History 1

The Client

A European biotechnology company, venture capital backed.

The Need

Interim Clinical Project Manager

The company was based in central Europe, was well financed and with its lead product just entering the clinic. Other products were in the pipeline not too far behind.

The company was ideally looking to recruit a CPM on a permanent basis, but recruitment was proving to be slower than anticipated, hence the need for an experienced Interim CPM.

The Interim CPM ideally needed specific therapeutic area experience and be able to demonstrate recent experience in a similar early stage clinical project.

Assignment Dimensions

Initial duration of 6 months, with an intensity of not less than 4 days per week, 3 of which needed to be in the European city where the Client was based.

Outcome

A shortlist of 3 individuals was presented and reviewed with the Client, of whom 2 were interviewed. A preferred candidate was selected who was able to start immediately and for whom the overseas aspect of the assignment presented no logistical difficulties.

Positive references were obtained, compensation agreed and the assignment began 2 weeks later.

The initial assignment was extended for a further 4 months, by which time the Client had then identified and appointed a local person to occupy the position on a permanent basis.

The Client has subsequently come back and asked Interea to work with them on 3 further (and different) interim assignments.
